MAPPING TREE — DRAG & DROP

There are times when you would like to restructure your mapping tree. If you just want to move a node up or down with respect to its siblings, use the move up and move down functions on the toolbar.

However, if you want to move the node and all of its offspring to a different node or branch, you will need to use the drag & drop feature.

Instructions:
  1. Select the node you want to move with the mouse pointer.
  2. With the mouse pointer still over the node, press and hold the left mouse button down.
  3. As you start to move the mouse pointer (while keeping the left mouse button down), you will see a ghost image of the node (Figure 1).

The node labels in the mapping tree will highlight as you move the mouse pointer over them.

  4. Once the mouse pointer is over the destination node, release the left mouse button.

The node and all of its offspring will be added as a child to that node.

  5. If you want to drag the node to a location that is not currently displayed in the tree view, simply drag the item to the edge of the mapping tree window. The tree view will scroll as long as you "hold" the node on the edge of the display.

NOTE: Since dropped nodes are always added as children to the target node, you might have to use the "Move Up" and "Move Down" buttons to fix its position with respect to its siblings.
